HLAB oBUSE 2023

OBUSE program was started in 2013 in the town of Obuse in Nagano Prefecture. Obuse is a small but well-known town in Japan, famous for things including its gorgeous scenery, delicious chestnuts, and much more. (It was home to the Snowboard course in the 1998 Nagano Olympics!) In addition, Obuse is known for being a leader in innovative town-planning, and Nagano Prefecture as a whole is renowned for its education system.
While we still follow the HLAB structure of seminar, workshop, forum and free interaction, the Obuse program places a greater emphasis on incorporating the local community. There are ample opportunities during the program to explore the town, interact with many local people, and even visit local elementary and middle schools. The town government and townspeople are extremely invested in the summer program, so from day one you will be welcomed into the town as a member of the same team.
